Jim founded BULLWEALTH in March 2000, after founding and managing Ernst & Young LLP's Investment Advisory Services. Jim was a Senior Partner and withdrew from the partnership in March 2000 following 27 years of service.

Jim graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an MBA in Finance. He is a CA (Chartered Accountant) and holds the CIMA designation (Certified Investment Management Analyst) from the Investment Management Consultants Association. Jim has over thirty-five years of expertise in dealing with high net worth families, not-for-profit organizations and institutional investors.

Julian C. Smith

President and Chief Executive Officer

Julian has over 15 years of investment advisory and investment management experience. He started his career as an investment advisor at Merrill Lynch before leaving to head business development at Charles Schwab Canada. Julian spent over 5 years as Senior Vice President at Raymond James Ltd. heading its Asset Management and Product Research group's, then left to co-found a global government bond investment management firm. Julian's expertise includes investment advisory, operational management, compliance and risk management, and leadership.

Julian is a graduate of Trent University with a B.Sc in Economics and holds the CIM® designation (Certified Investment Manager).

Peter Klein

Managing partner and chief investment officer

Peter is a professor of finance at Simon Fraser University and was most recently a Principal of KCS Fund Strategies Inc. He was a Vice-President with CIBC/Wood Gundy Inc. where he participated in a wide range of capital market activities in their Toronto and Tokyo offices, and was Chief Trader of the bank's European derivatives portfolio while based in their London, UK office. He has developed a number of trading models for use on trading desks, and has personally priced, traded and hedged billions of dollars of derivative securities.

Dr. Klein has been published in leading academic journals and has garnered awards such as the Barclays Global Investors Canada Research Award, the Chicago Board of Trade Award for Best Paper in Futures and Options and the Alternative Investment Management Association (Canada) Research Award for his research on hedge fund returns, derivative security and asset pricing models.

Peter holds a Ph.D. in financial economics from the University of Toronto, an MBA, LL.B. and B.Sc from the University of Western Ontario, and is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CBV (Chartered Business Valuator) and CGA (Certified General Accountant). He was formerly the Director for Continuing Education for CFA Vancouver. He is currently a member of the research committee of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators and is Chair of the Simon Fraser University Academic Pension Plan.

Kevin Van Dyk

Managing partner, Portfolio manager and director of research

Kevin has over 12 years of investment advisory and investment management experience, and is responsible for investment manager research and investment advisory relationships at BULLWEALTH. He has led our investment manager research, investment analysis and performance measurement/reporting to identify new opportunities through rigorous, ongoing due diligence. Kevin uses his expertise to forge sound investment advisory relationships with our high net worth families, not-for-profit organizations and institutional clients.

Prior to joining BULLWEALTH, Kevin worked at Merrill Lynch and CIBC Wood Gundy for their Managed Account platforms. Kevin graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours BA in Economics and also holds the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). He is member of the Toronto CFA Society and the CFA Institute.

Jo has over 10 years of investment advisory and investment management experience. She was an investment analyst with Jim Bull at Ernst & Young's Investment Advisory Services, an investment analyst at Mercer Investment Consulting and an Assistant Portfolio Manager at Jarislowsky Fraser Limited. Jo is responsible for managing BULLWEALTH's Managed Account Program (MAP), to ensure execution of transactions and to provide investment advice to our high net worth families.

Jo graduated from the University of Toronto with a BA. She is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and holds the CIM® designation (Chartered Investment Manager).
